Straightway

Straightway the heavens opened.
Straightway the spirit came.
Straightway the dove descended.
Straightway it spread His fame.

Straightway the fever left her.
Straightway He read their thought.
Straightway disciples called them.
Straightway His own he taught.

Straightway the Spirit drove Him.
Straightway the crippled walked.
Straightway they gathered round Him.
Straightway His world He rocked.

(Inspired by the first chapter of Mark’s Gospel)

  1. Amen! Great poem!

It is also interesting to note that salvation is offered to man straightway if he will only believe in Jesus Christ and His death, burial, resurrection and His perfect obedience to His Father’s law and will.

    • Agreed! “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.” Romans10:9-11
