Evil age

He rescues us from hell,
Our punishment His wage,
Delivers us from sin,
As well this evil age.

Galations 1:3-5 – ” Grace [be] to you and peace from God the Father, and [from] our Lord Jesus Christ, Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father: To whom [be] glory for ever and ever. Amen.”

He who never sleeps

He who never sleeps
Napping in the stern.
Anxiously His peeps
Waken Him in turn.
Accusatory sheep
Will we ever learn?
Capsizing distress
This is His concern.

Mark 4:35-41 “And the same day, when the even was come, he saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side. And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships. And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full. And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish? And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith? And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?”

Psalm 121
A Song of degrees.
I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.
My help [cometh] from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.
He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber.
Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.
The LORD [is] thy keeper: the LORD [is] thy shade upon thy right hand.
The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night.
The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul.
The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.

Vain thoughts

No room for vain thoughts
Outside of His Law.
His Word laps them up
His own coup de grace.

The poem above inspired by Psalm 119:113-120 below:

“I hate [vain] thoughts: but thy law do I love.
Thou [art] my hiding place and my shield: I hope in thy word.
Depart from me, ye evildoers: for I will keep the commandments of my God.
Uphold me according unto thy word, that I may live: and let me not be ashamed of my hope.
Hold thou me up, and I shall be safe: and I will have respect unto thy statutes continually.
Thou hast trodden down all them that err from thy statutes: for their deceit [is] falsehood.
Thou puttest away all the wicked of the earth [like] dross: therefore I love thy testimonies.
My flesh trembleth for fear of thee; and I am afraid of thy judgments.”

Bottle go and smoke it.

Stab at it and poke it.

Empty it and choke it.

Steadily provoke it.

Statutes holding on.

Weaker making strong.

Joining in His throng,

Right against the wrong.

(This poem inspired by Psalm 119:83 – “ For I am become like a bottle in the smoke; yet do I not forget thy statutes.”)

Full recovered

Deep in a well

With no cover.

Shot full of holes

With no water.

Bread from above,

Bloody His love,

Safe in His arms

Full recovered.

John 6:37 – “All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.”

Zechariah 9:11 – “As for thee also, by the blood of thy covenant I have sent forth thy prisoners out of the pit wherein is no water.

Luke 4:18 – “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to thepoor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted , to preach deliverance to the captives, andrecovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised ,”
